After two years of media, and two STN conventions I have a few words of advice for the new and returning students. My advice to all the students in CKTV next year is one don't procrastinate, two ask for help, and three do your best!
My first piece of advice, and probably the most important is don't procrastinate. In most classes you can procrastinate and throw together something decent the night before, but not in media. There are set deadlines for everything, when you should end filming, when you should start editing, and when the project is due. Make sure you keep up with these deadlines because if you do t it will hurt you a lot in the end.
My second piece of advice is ask for help! The first two quarters you new students have an experienced partner, and can learn many useful techniques from them. If you don't know how to do something ask someone in the class, they will try to help you out their best don't be scared.
My last but not least piece of advice is to do your best! Media is not a class that you can get an easy A in. You have to do all of your work, and do your very best on every project if you want to get an A. When your filming and something is distracting, stop the video and fix it. Do not just let it keep going and be like whatever it's fine because that will not help you get an A.
Overall media is a tough class but as long as you stay on task, do your best, and ask for help when you need it, you should be able to enjoy it as much as I did. Good luck to all of you next year, and maybe see you down the road in high school.
